Gary Frantzen

Mr. Frantzen has over 30 years of experience specializing in the valuation of businesses and business interests including equity interests; liabilities and debt securities; fairness and solvency opinions; options and other derivatives; and intangible assets. He has provided opinions of value, fairness, and solvency for many purposes such as acquisitions; divestitures; business and strategic plan reviews; business unit performance measurement; SEC filings; US GAAP and other financial reporting requirements; US federal, state, and non-US tax reporting requirements; regulatory compliance, various dispute resolution procedures, and general advisory purposes.

Gary’s experience in the healthcare industry has included the valuation of pharmaceutical and medical device developers and technologies, hospitals (acute care, specialty, psychiatric, academic, not-for-profit, critical access, and others), health insurance and managed care organizations, physician practices (a wide variety of sole practitioners, single specialties and multi-specialty groups), home health & hospice, ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation and fitness centers, ancillary services (imaging centers, radiation therapy services, diagnostic labs, catheterization labs, sleep clinics), and long term care (SNFs, LTACHs). In addition to his opinions of value, he has also provided opinions of commercial reasonableness with respect to the sale/acquisition of a business and with respect to compensation arrangements with physicians.

Mr. Frantzen most recently managed the Chicago Office of Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services LLC and served as the leader of the Financial Reporting and Healthcare Industry service lines. Earlier in his career, he managed the Chicago Office of American Appraisal Associates, Inc. and served as the Chair of the National Healthcare Industry practice for that firm; he was a Managing Director at Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting; a Director at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukinand served as the Chair of the Technical Standards Committee; a Partner at Arthur Andersen where he was the co-leader of the Strategic Valuation Services Group in Chicago and led the financial valuation practice for Andersen’s Central Region; and a Director at Coopers & Lybrand LLP. Mr. Frantzen earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in Chicago. Mr. Frantzen is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), American Society of Appraisers. He is currently a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago, and the American Society of Appraisers
